Yar’adua Return: Deceiving a Decent Nation!

by L.Chinedu Arizona-Ogwu

It is a big shame that a few people choose to ridicule Nigeria before the world. They told us” After being discharged by the team of medical experts overseeing his treatment …, President Yar’Adua returned to the presidential villa, Abuja early this morning. “While the president completes his recuperation, Vice President Jonathan will continue to oversee the affairs of state,”…..For how long do they think they can keep this so call secret of theirs. Do they think that Nigerians are daft? Well, the almighty will reveal their deeds very soon and the truth will be known. We have fasted, we have prayed, every hidden thing will soon be brought to the limelight. Heaven will reveal their iniquity and the earth will rise up against them. The head of 150 millions Nigerians cannot be bottled in deception. I see the emergence of a new Nigeria as.

With the expected arrival of the six-man delegation from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Jeddah earlier this week to see President Umaru Yar’Adua at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Jeddah, there is growing concern in government circles that the situation of the president amounts to ‘kidnapping’ of Nigeria’s leader. In a divided FEC, Ahmed Yayale, secretary to the government and Dora Akunyili, information minister, were among those who believe that the true state of the president’s health should be made public in the interest of the country. Yayale is in the government delegation to see Yar’Adua.

The team was scheduled to leave Abuja that night aboard a presidential jet armed with a letter from Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. In the letter, the acting president thanked the Saudi monarch for playing host to Yar’Adua and told him about the intention of the FEC team to see the president in the hospital.

The aspect of Jonathan’s letter that is raising concern among Nigerians is that Nigeria has to seek the permission of the Saudi king before any meeting with Yar’Adua can take place in the hospital. Suddenly, the president was jetted-in as if something went wrong somewhere the same morning which the team is presumed to touch the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The FEC team is the fourth team from Nigeria that has gone to see Yar’Adua. The three previous teams left Jeddah at various times without seeing Yar’Adua. The first was the governors’ team led by Kwara State governor, Bukola Saraki. The second was the team of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) led by its national chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor. The third team was the delegation of the House of Representatives, which met with the First Lady, Turai Yar’Adua. She reportedly told the lawmakers that only the Saudi monarch could okay any meeting with Yar’Adua. So far, the only people who have access to Yar’Adua are Turai; his chief security officer, Yusuf Tilde; his aide-de-camp, Mustapha Onoviveta and Nigeria’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Garba Aminci.

We are Nigerians and people very easy to rule. We call for nation wide strike action on issues of less importance. Let the whole nation go on protest and see whether those hidden issues could not reveal itself. I feel for the President as a person and I pray for his quick recovery. What I do not understand is the fear of handing over until he recovers! At least we do same in other establishments. I guess the president can not write anything in his present condition and others are afraid of taking such decision on his behalf. Power is possessive and that is why the FIRST LADY is holding on tight to it. How I wish she uses the same amount of energy for scheming to pray for her husband. She must have been the brain behind the President still in office until today. That man would have left to take care of himself long ago. As for all the CABALS, just know that judgment day is nearer than yesterday

This is so shameful and embarrassing; not only to Nigerians but the whole black race. How can the President of a country be sick, absent and there is official denials, misinformation and or cover-up? Isn’t the Secret Service as a body supposed to be responsible for his security? The exact whereabouts or condition of Yar’Adua can not be underscored; we have a fully functioning National Assembly. The National Assembly should query the Heads of the Nigerian Security Services.

Not until the following people who have been looting since independence are prosecuted that country will not be settled. Then we can say we have a country as far as that bastard who use military occupation of that country to make billions and billions still remain in that country and participate in the running of that country even Cotonou will be greater than us. A country that claimed to be the 6th largest oil producing in the world it citizen is the 1st suffering citizen in the world too poor. I hate that country with a passion.

Honestly I do not know what to believe. From all indications, a few unscrupulous individuals with no interest of the country at heart have continued to hoodwink and manipulate the rest of us. We all are aware that behind all these deceit and web of lies is the issue of succession. Whatever be the case, nothing short of following the constitutional provision for succession would be acceptable to the Nigerian people. We say no to the imposition of anyone outside the Acting President; Dr.Jonathan to the office of the president. To do so will not only spell doom but also entrench anarchy in the system. If I may ask, “Is the constitution no longer the grund norm”? Nigerians are watching.

What majority of Nigerians want need is revelation. A lot of questions need answering? So many investigations need to be carried out. This surely is a goldmine for journalists. I can almost feel the adrenalin. Who has been forging what in the name of an ailing president? Who has been approving and disapproving documents in the president’s name?

The most certain thing in Nigeria politics is its uncertainty. How could a president and commander in chief of the armed forces of a nation like Nigeria abscond from his country for over 48 days, leaving the citizens with the burden of proof of his whereabouts! I cannot believe these people think they could get away with such blatant dishonesty. If the President was indeed “sound and fit” as previously claimed; he should come openly to transmit to the National Assembly. From Saudi Arabia, he would have sent a message assuring the citizens that he’s alright and will be back. Now that they realize they couldn’t possibly continue with such falsehood, what report do we believe? Since when? Crap! These people make Nigerians sick, especially his closest aides, yes, including his wife. It has become obvious that they are more interested in “saving face” than being open with fellow citizens. .

At this time, Nigerians should stay together no matter where you are from; we share one humanity. Nigerians should hold this country true for if we fail, the consequences will be greater than the initial sadistic feeling it might bring. I stand for ONE NIGERIA and nothing else. Because at this point in our lives, but anything short is mere human selfishness. ONE NIGERIA is what we should fight for… always ONE NIGERIA for we are greater together and the divinations of the evil of the world will not stand. ONE NIGERIA!

If the president is unfit to rule; he should step down or the constitution should take him down. As citizen of Nigeria, I believe that my country deserves good & capable leadership regardless of tribe or religion. We hope that an alleged President Yar’Adua’s return to Nigeria is not an effort by his senior advisers to upset Nigeria’s stability and create renewed uncertainty in the democratic process. Nigeria needs a strong, healthy and effective leader to ensure the stability of the country and to manage Nigeria’s many political, economic and security challen

ges. Nigeria is an extraordinarily important country… and all of those in positions of responsibility should put the health of the president and the best interests of the country and people of Nigeria above personal ambition or gain. We deserve better and we deserve full disclosure of all serious information!
