Nnedi Okorafor received her MA in journalism from the Michigan State University in 1999. Currently working on another MA (English) at the University of Illinois, she has worked with, written for, edited or co-edited publications and websites such as The Star Newspaper, Study Abroad Magazine, Afrique Newsmagazine, Africana.com, Essence.com, USA Today Online, Strange Horizons, Moondance, etc. She has won academic scholarships, literary competitions and competitive sporting events.
