Sabella Ogbobode Abidde

Please, do not ask me about religion. I get the evil look every time I tell people I am an agnostic who teeters on atheism. My world resolves around ethics and the rule of law. That’s it. I have no use for religion: religious convictions are not part of my existence -- the laws of man are good enough for me. I have lived in several cities: Seattle, Miami, Norman, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Saint Cloud, the District of Columbia, Houston, and Mankato. I am not sure where I am going to live next. And I have never really had a profession, only jobs: been a cook, a dishwasher, a civil servant, house cleaner, university instructor and researcher and so on and so forth. Every so often I get questions concerning the role and place of the African woman. Well, I don’t know; at least not with any certainty. What seems to work best is when both partners work as a team: cooperate, coordinate and collaborate their marital efforts. And they should be mindful of the insidious effect of modernization on the African family.

Why the Hurry, the Haste, and the Rush to Judgment?

Mallam el-Rufai is not an “ordinary” Nigerian. His integrity and reputation is at stake and so we have to be mindful of that. We also have to be mindful of the fact that the integrity and reputation of two Nigerian Senators has been called into question. It’s a mess, folks!

Stop Insulting The President

For heavens sake, let's stop this nonsense! Insulting our president will not make our nation better or greater, or make us look great in the eyes of the world; but instead, it will make us look like juveniles and vagabonds...

Ijaws and Ijawnation: What are Our Goals and Destiny?

Where do the Ijaws belong? Where do we belong? What is our destiny? Why do we remain part of a republic that treats us like a broken piece of glass? What makes us carry the cross our neighbors have forced us to bear? Why do we, with our eyes closed, turn the other cheek for unnecessary slaps and abuse? Why are we the way we are? Why?

El Rufai's Bribery Allegation: A Rush to Judgment

Tafa Balogun was accused of corruption and of extorting some government functionaries. Whatever became of those allegations? What happened to the vice president after being accused of illegally amassing real estate in his home state?

Nigeria And Nigerians: A World Of Disconnect And Discontentment

America, Palestinians, And The State Of Israel

The state of Israel must know that by their treatment of the Palestinians, and by their supercilious treatment of all those who oppose and or criticize them - that God's promise may not come to pass...

Charles Taylor: A Sensible And Credible Decision

It is impossible to read, or hear about the track-records of Mr. Taylor and feel any sympathy or empathy toward, or for him. And if the allegations against him are true, he belongs in the deepest valley of a raging fire. But how do we know he is guilty of all that has been leveled against him?

Africa: Progress Or Stagnation?

If African countries can't govern themselves, they should say so and allow the West to take over the day-to-day administration of their countries...
