Barring their nicotine-stained teeth, from years of nervous negotiations, diplomats from the East and West jubilantly celebrated their diplomatic feat over their success in the Iranian nuclear programme agreement.
What looked intractable three months ago, has been made possible.
The most impressive person among the lot is the Iranian Foreign Minister. He was suave, urbane, and eloquent, leaving no room for latent ambiquities.
The triumph of the Geneva Negotiations on the Iranian nuclear weapons programme is wedged upon the international legal principle that states shall fulfill in good faith responsibilities assumed by them under the UN Charter.
It was also based on the acceptance of the international legal principle of sovereign equality of states.
“ In their application and interpretation, the principles are interrelated and each principle should be construed in the context of other principles.” UN Charter.
It is clear that when states adhere strictly to the general principles and norms of international law, they achieve more progress in resolving complex problems of statecraft.
Partisanship and geo-political calculations tend to confuse and obfuscate matters.
Who needs nuclear weapons, which cost enormous financial resources to develop and maintain?
The social conditions of citizens will remain parlous and miserable, while political leaders beat their chests.
Anyone with a modicum of human intelligence must see the futility of putting emphasis on the production of nuclear weapons for war purposes.
Francis Ivanov, speaking to the Curatorium of BOSAS INTERNATIONAL LAW BUREAU, Abuja, last August, drew a frightening scenario of charred bodies, smoldering cities and unimaginable waste of human lives.
WE all have evidence of the disastrous consequences of Chernobyl, Bhopal, Long Island and Fukushima as well as other hushed- up blow outs.
There are leaking nuclear equipment that will soon get out of hands. So what is the joy about? CHEM RADOST?
Iran has adopted a new policy of normalizing its diplomatic relations with the West. This is good for the world. What do we gain from hard attitudes, endless bickering, with the social conditions of citizens,of no apparent concern to well kept leaders?
The devil hardens the leaders’ hearts and the subjective assessment of reality of a leader holds everyone else under oppress sway.
This cannot be right or reasonable.
States must abide by principles of international law, the culture of rational judgment and good conscience.
Russia, the US, the UK, China and the EU have operated on the basis of good judgment. If this new realism takes hold, international relations will return to the good old days, when knowledge and not emotions and hatred dominated diplomatic conduct.
We shall attend the next Geneva Conference on Syria to insist that we must not encourage rebellion, death, decay and disintegration of people and the destruction of cities, in the service of the Luciferian hierarchy.
Those, who plotted and executed the Syrian mayhem, will be visited by calamities till time indefinite.
The next Geneva Conference on Syris is aimed at promoting and strengthening measures to end the internecine war, which has reached alarming proportions.
The Geneva Accord on Iran should be quickly ratified by both sides in order for implementation of the terms of the agreements to become effective.
It is the international responsibility of states that stoked the embers of the war in Syria to introduce measures to clean up their act.
Pope Francis was right to have invited Vladimir Putin to the Vatican for talks on Syria, in order to safeguard the lives of Christians under siege in Syria.
In new book entitled, “Commentaries on International Law and Diplomacy”, I dealt extensively on the crisis in Egypt, Syria, Libya and Iraq.
The application of international legal arguments impressed heavily on the decision-making processes of some states, which hitherto relied on geo-political heavy-handedness.
In the last fifty years, some states adopted the hegemonic attitude of chivalry. This triggered the nuclear arms race, which is posing a danger to human survival, as other states shored up there national security strategies.
This happened in India, Pakistan, Israel, France, Britain, China and Japan.
The anti-Communist hysteria drove the arms race.
China was denigrated until it beat all odds to stand at the pinnacle of industrial and economic power.
I discerned some Western intellectual arrogance and so, in my book, I attacked some mistakes in some evaluations that had become entrenched, like the “Arab Spring”, “ the hand of Moscow”, Chinese communist conspiracy to dominate the world”.etc
I framed the synthesis of my world-view, after rigorous academic acquaintances with both eastern and western ideological trends from 1962-1971, in universities in Kiev, Kharkov, Cologne and Heidelberg and sabbatical leave studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and finally at the School of Law, University of Science and Technology, Qingdao, China.
These experiences constitute the kernel of the ideas in this book, which should interest the Universities, Foreign Ministries, International Organizations and anyone, with an intellectual habit of mind.
Huron Blue Company Limited, Abuja, Nigeria, is a partner of BOSAS INTERNATIONAL LAW BUREAU.
It is the major distributor of the book, which sells at eighteen British Pounds. Discount is available for the asking!
The book is the result of the application of human intelligence.
It is the product of ten years of the strict documentation of facts on international law and diplomacy.
The Chinese, the Philippines, Japanese should resolve all outstanding problems concerning navigational, maritime, and national security issues in their common boundaries in order to de-escalate tensions in the region.
God acceptance is the conditio sine qua non to peace on Earth.
