Gov. T.A. Orji operates a cult-like government

by Odimegwu Onwumere

Whenever I want to leave Gov. Theodore Ahamefule Orji of Abia State alone
in order to see if he will change the compass of his stranded way of
governing that once glorious state of ours, something in me tells me that
if others and I do, the governor will continue to swim in fool’s paradise.

Some of his hypnotized and occult-like aides had written that I write about
‘their’ governor as if he was my age mate and, I wonder why my father who
is father older than the non-performing governor is from the state his
junior governs with reckless abandon.

Could it be right if my illustrious father writes about his (junior), the
governor? That will be downgrading himself, since he has a son who is
younger to the governor. Therefore, if the governor cannot respect all the
elders in and out of our state and do the needful, then, we, his junior
ones should remind him of where he had ran out from (the bathroom naked).

He is tirelessly conscripting the press to laundering his already
irredeemable image, pummeling the hard and needed funds of the state to
frivolities. But no matter how he is bent on promoting falsehood, truth
will always stand erect, no matter how strenuously bent.

Maybe, why the governor is proving deaf ear to develop our state and our
people is because he has seen us as not Americans and Europeans who have in
the recent times have become the desire of Northerners or their propaganda
machine in telling the President Goodluck Jonathan government that the
north is underdeveloped.

If we were Americans and Europeans, Gov. T.A Orji, perhaps, could have
given that state one school for the impoverished, if this will serve. But
since we are not Americans and Europeans, we must continue to tell the
governor that he has shoved our state to a most disgraceful level in the
country, till he does what is expected from him in our state.

It is not about making noise in the state with tyro media balderdash as
aides, our people are asking them in the state government to come up with
any development the governor has achieved for our people that will
commensurate with the developments that are in states like Osun, Gombe,
Ondo, Jigawa, Oyo, Ogun, Katsina, Kebbi… this time, we are not talking
about the governor to go to Akwa Ibom and learn what it means to be a
governor of a state.

Governor Orji runs a toutish government. If not, how could he have been
appointing transitional chairmen instead of conduct Local Government Areas
election? I do not want to say that this government is a clueless one,
always looking for where to produce blame as reason it has not been
performing.

I do not want to say that Gov. T.A Orji is the worst governor that Nigeria
has ever produced in the annals of history irrespective of states. I do not
want to say that the blackmailers called Gov. T.A Orji’s media-gangsters
called aides have closed their hearts for truth and, opened it for the
spreading of mendacity and arrogance, as untrained attack dogs they are.

I do not want to say that Gov. T.A Orji government is twaddle. He wants our
people to continue to endure his undemocratic ways of governing. But he
forgot one thing, which is that his generation is going to be ashamed of
him by tomorrow and they will ask questions. Our people are praying that
his bad-mannered aides’ families should be like the government in Abia
State, since they are praising it with lies.

Much as I’m very sure, generation will never be at peace when they make
research about Gov. T.A Orji by tomorrow. He has created a venue for that.
When the generation will make comparison than we are making today, they
will cast him to the eternal gulag in their heart for not learning from the
Gov. Godswill Akpabios of his time.

I’m not sure if we say that the governor’s lack of understanding is our
fault. Can it be that he has been suffering us because we are writing and
talking too much? But what could our state have become if we are not
talking and writing too much? There is no good road in the state, no
employment avenues and all the dividends of a sound democracy.

It is only in a cult that such political appointees and over 450 aides and
their paymaster behave alike – odd. Through multiple and over-levied
taxations which the government uses the weight of the military and combined
forces deployed to the state, our people are ever fear-ready to ‘comply’.
Perhaps, it could be that civil servants from other states raised their
voices against the unfriendly atmosphere that our civil servants have been
enduring in the state and they were asked to leave with reckless abandon.

It behoves all to note that government funds do not commensurate with
whatever they boast about that they are doing in that state. As a result,
it is the prayer of many of our people that Abia State’s allocation should
not be increased under this apologetically government we have come to
endure, because immediately the revenue sharing formula takes place in
Abuja and states have theirs, down to Abia State, there is a revenue
sharing formula that does not go to elected local government chairmen
because there is none, but to the governor’s yesmen whom he appointed as
transitional committee. And you wonder what a cult is if not the shenanigan
government we are seeing in Abia State.
